Getting Along With Our Wildlife Neighbours

Wherever we live these days, whether it is in newly built subdivisions, in country locations or in urban environments, we are in touch with native wildlife. Many people see wildlife as enriching our environment -- until wildlife move into their homes.

Some wildlife problems are temporary. For others there are sensible solutions. You can deal with most wildlife situations in a humane and cost-effective way by simply understanding natural animal behaviours, deciding your tolerance limits, animal-proofing your home and, if necessary, humanely evicting wildlife.

If you have found an injured raccoon, squirrel, rabbit, skunk, gopher, fox or other small wild mammal in the Ottawa area that you believe is injured or orphaned, please click here to read the "Wildlife Emergencies" page before you call the Sanctuary.

To find your solution, use the links below.

For even more help, consult the Humane Societiy of the United States section on Urban Wildlife.

We are so grateful to all our sponsors, benefactors and volunteers
for helping us to help the animals
