Although once a popular answer to wildlife problems, LIVE TRAPPING AND RELOCATION OF WILDLIFE IS NO LONGER CONSIDERED A HUMANE SOLUTION:

  • in Ontario, it is illegal to relocate wildlife more than one km.
  • relocating mothers can leave orphaned wildlife behind to die
  • relocating wildlife can spread diseases and parasites
  • relocated wildlife do not usually survive because of competition with native wildlife and the inability to find appropriate nesting places, food and water
  • relocating wildlife will just open up room for other animals to move right in.
