Repairs and maintenance volunteers play an important role by helping to maintain our wildlife centre caging and grounds. As handypersons, maintenance volunteers help with general repairs, carpentry, painting or landscaping. More experienced volunteers also help with minor electrical and plumbing needs. Maintenance volunteers can also participate on larger construction and cage building projects as needed.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Transportation to RVWS (no public transit available)
  • General handyperson skills
  • Participation in a general orientation training session

Time Commitment

Maintenance volunteers serve on a casual basis as their availability allows so they do not have set hours, but we do ask for a commitment of at least one 4-hour shift per month. When projects arise, volunteers are contacted and asked to commit to certain tasks and timelines based on their area of interest and expertise.
