Skunks

Skunks often take older babies out for walks at night. If you see a group of baby skunks at night, observe them from a distance to see if the mother is with them.

When to rescue?

A baby mammal showing signs of illness or injury needs to be rescued.  Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator and follow the baby mammal temporary care instructions.

If you find a single baby skunk out during the day, it is usually orphaned and needs rescuing.

If you find a litter of baby skunks out during the day, and they appear weak or sick, the babies might need rescuing. Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator for further advice.
